The story of Professor Galantay's boyhood exploits when the Russians invaded Budapest is certainly a noteworthy historical representation. Unfortunately, the first edition of this book was almost unintelligible - I was therefore hired by him to edit that book to develop this second edition.

It took me more than one year to do this work and "the professor" was at my door every week with updates and just-found images for inclusion.

Unfortunately, when I sent the work to Militaria publishing company in Hungary the printer placed his own name before mine as book editor, having never sent galleys nor a PDF to proof before printing. Is there no justice in this world?

Nevertheless. . . this book paints a colourful, yet sometimes dark image of the events as they unfolded near the military academy where young cadet Galantay was learning the trade. As a 14-year-old he handled himself with honour and gallantry.

This piece should be a must-have for any WWII historian's library.
